It's Tied!

The Boston Red Sox have tied the best-of-7 ALCS at 3-3 after pulling out a gutsy win at Yankee Stadium, becoming the first ever MLB team to force game 7 after being behind 3-0. Whew! Curt Schilling was great, considering he has a bum ankle and he wasn't throwing into the mid-90s. And 2 calls went against the Yankees, and they were the right calls, unlike the Jeffrey Maier-assisted Derek Jeter HR in the 1996 ALCS vs. Baltimore. When has it been that we've had to see Joe Torre out arguing with the umps in a postseason game? It's great.

And a big boo to Yankee fans, folks. Always among the best, most educated, and raucous fans, it's disappointing to see the umps have to call out police with riot gear on to make sure that something ugly doesn't occur. You guys have won 26 championships, get over it.

Now it's either Lowe (whom Francona has tabbed as the most likely game 7 starter) or Wakefield, who everyone else believes would have been the starter, vs.....Kevin Brown, maybe? Whoever's pitching, it's going to be a hell of a game 7, no matter what. I expect the lead to change several times and the outcome in doubt until the last batter.

Way to go, Sox. This is why baseball fans love baseball.
