Football!

-I decided to watch the Colts-Chiefs game that was on local television instead of going out of my way to see the Titans play. Doesn't seem like I missed too much, but I'd love to be filled in. Nice they got a win.

-The Colts-Cheifs game was absurd, with almost 1,100 yards of offense. Certainly a very exciting game, but I don't think either team has the D to win it all. I don't think the Chiefs will make the playoffs despite this two game run - too streaky, too many holes. The Colts should be a better team in the long run.

-Interesting that the Jags blew it today. They seem to be getting the breaks, like the Sox did last week, but couldn't take advantage of it today. Houston should have put it away, but that silly celebration before they scored that resulted in the football being lost out of the end zone for a touchback gave the Jags a chance to win. For once they didn't take it, as they'd done in previous weeks. The Jags streak reminds me a bit of the Titans run in their Super Bowl year, where all of the breaks seemed to go their way.

-Okay, so a little negative for Boston with the Patriots loss after last week. I'm sure they'll happily make the trade. The Pats showed some weaknesses in the running game - in that they didn't have one today - that they will need to address. I'm surprised that they abandoned the rush attack so quickly with Dillon out. Let's see if others exploit this somehow.

-It's nice to see some new talent emerging at QB. I like Leftwich and Rothensburger (sp?). It's good that we're no longer relying on the Maddoxes of the world to be starters when they should be back-ups. A guy like Maddox can get on a hot streak, like he did two years ago, but it won't last. A guy like Rothensburger can be a long-term solution.

You know, the Titans win on Sunday was not much different from their losses this year:

Chris Brown runs all over the place.

3rd-and-short situations still a problem.

Occasional secondary breakdowns, leading to 3rd-and-long conversions for the opposing team.

The difference: They won.
