I was pleasantly surprised that Johnny Depp got nominated and was happy about Bill Murray. It would have been nice to see the Academy be even more daring with nominating comedic performances and threw Jack Black for "School of Rock" in there instead of Jude Law's generic Oscar bait.
Yes, "Seasbiscuit" annoyed the crap out of me, but it doesn't have a chance in hell of winning, so I guess I shouldn't be too pissed. The most suprising nomination for me though was Keisha Castle Hughes for "Whale Rider." This is a great performance by a younger actor that I'm glad got noticed. And for "Brother Bear" to get nominated, you know animation sucked this year.
