One day, someone will come to Greg Maddux, and/or people who know stories about Maddux, and write an extremely entertaining book about his approach to pitching. Now, I don't really care, in 2004, if Maddux leaves the Braves because he has lost a lot from his early-to-mid-nineties brilliance, but he was a special pitcher to watch back in the day.
Another favorite of mine is when he told Marquis Grissom to play extraordinarily deep in center because he didn't have his best stuff going, and he was pitching to Gary Sheffield. Sheffield hits the ball deep, but Grissom played him perfectly and caught it on the warning track.
There's also some mention of where, if they were playing in a rain-soaked field, and someone got an infield hit, where the ball would be extremely wet, Jeff Blauser would pick up the ball and make sure Maddux got it back for the next hitter.
