Louisville Cardinals Football

I know that this isn't a very timely post, but I have a point to make about UofL football. I'm excited about the Liberty Bowl win, and hope they keep Petrino. In case you didn't catch it, he caused a real hubbub here in talking to LSU days after he had sworn his allegiance to the Cards. But they'll keep him anyway, as they don't want to buy out his new two-year contract.

I think it's a good thing for us Cardinal fans. Now none of the big schools will want him as he is a PR risk. But he can still be a great coach for us in the Big East. He being damaged goods may be the only way to keep a coach of his caliber, and we need to keep him around as long as we can. Do you realize that the football team has a great chance of being ranked higher than the Petino-led basketball team? And that next year they should be favored for a BCS bid? That's an incredible accomplishment in this basketball mad state. It's fun to follow this team week to week, and Petrino should make that true for years to come.
