Movie Releases, 6/9

Today, The Omen has its one day of a 6/6/06 gimmick opening. Review will come Thursday. This is the first of two movies that I know of that Richard Donner took part in the seventies and is being remade or refurbished this year (Superman Returns is the other).

This weekend, it's Pixar's Cars. Directed by Pixar head and Toy Story string-puller John Lasseter, this is almost certain to destroy all the other CG cartoons that have been produced since Pixar's last entry, The Incredibles.

Also opening, not wide, is the Garrison Keillor adaptation directed by Robert Altman, A Prairie Home Companion. Loaded with stars, including Lindsay Lohan, Tommy Lee Jones, Woody Harrelson, John C. Reilly, Meryl Streep, and on and on much like all of Altman's pictures, this concerns the last broadcast of a popular radio show.
