I've only seen the first LOTR movie, and I was really put off by all of the violence. I've read the first book, and the violence really doesn't fit what was in the first book. And, I was really mad that they left out Tom Bombadil! What a great singin' man! I think I would have thought the movie to be a classic if I hadn't read the book, but I was a bit disappointed. I still haven't read the second two, so maybe I'll like them better.
