Alot of Idiots In Sports Today, and The Media Isn't Helping

I'm sick and tired of hearing about Terrell Owens, and you know what, I'm going to become an oxymoron and talk about him a little. The thing I really have never understood, is as much as the media wants to make this guy out to be the wrong asshole in every stupid situation he gets himself into, why do they keep talking about his actions for the next two weeks? Take a stand, media. Don't give the guy's antics the time of day; quit fucking talking about him. Mike and Mike this morning before going to a break promised a full hour of football talk without mentioning T.O. Well, five minutes into the segment, Golic mentions that he bets Mariucchi and Jeff Garcia are having a big laugh in Detroit about this whole T.O. situation in Philly. First off, it's a stupid thing to say. I don't think Mariucchi and Garcia have much to laugh about in Detroit; they're getting their own personal ass beating by the local media for their shitty team that was highly overrated going into the season. Second, way to go Golic. A whole hour? You couldn't make it five minutes you lame ass.

And why does Michael Irvin have such a hard on for Owens? He got the ball rolling with his comment about Favre could have the Eagles undefeated right now. Really. Because I guess Favre would also play defense and get on Andy Reid's ass about not having a run game going. If Favre had to throw 68% of the time, or whatever ridiculous percentage it is, his arm would fall off. It would; bitch at me all you want, Packer fans, about the toughness of Favre. I don't give a shit. Brett Favre would be no more help to this struggling team. Because guess what? Without Owens in the mix, he would still have no one to throw to.

And I'm not saying the whole thing is Irvin's fault. T.O. had already pissed off Reid and company to the point of no return. And how stupid was he to not only say Favre could play better than McNabb, but he said this to some kid interviewer. It wasn't like it was ESPN with some tricky interviewing techniques to get him to slip up; no this was a fucking kid.

Did the Eagles do the right thing? From a team morale stand point, hell yeah. From a strategic standpoint; probably not. But they had to get him out of there in their minds, and so they did. Stand by your guns. Good for you.

As far as what Vick said. Yeah, he's an arrogant piece of shit too.

I agree about the media. The best way to get Owens to realize he's not the center of the universe is to stop covering him as though he is the center of the universe. And these media types love to talk about the freedom of press and how they're only covering Owens because it's a big story.

That's crap. Stop all T.O. talk completely, and we'll take a giant step toward ending this crap. He only says the things he does because he's conditioned to know what the response will be--he'll get on every tv and radio station in the country.

I just can't figure out who's the dog and who's Pavlov: the media or T.O. The media does jump to cover every one of T.O.'s antics they also label "ridiculous."

Here's the thing about T.O.: he doesn't like himself. Like everyone in the WORLD...he has self-esteem issues. He works them out via Sports Center. To his mis-wired brain...being on TV, for any reason, is proof that he's worth something.

Sad thing is, I don't think he's worth a damn thing. Call me stupid, but I don't think he's worth even a $100,000 contract. He's a jerk, he blames everyone but himself, he's always right, and he talks only of himself: in other, more Nashvillian terms...he's the polar opposite of our beloved Tomas Vokoun.

I consider myself a good person, but while I'll stop short of saying I hope T.O. breaks his leg in a freak accident...I wouldn't be the least bit sad to see it. I'd even crack a wry smile.

I am back in school getting my masters in education. I happened to complete a paper on learning processes and development. T.O. makes outlandish comments and the media talks it up. To him, this is positive reinforcement for his behavior. I don't like him and I had him on my fantasy team (dropped him like a bad habit once they announced his dismissal). I should have dropped him in the beginning but I like to win. . .

I also happened up be up in south Jersey in August (or as I like to call it, hell on earth) and the people of Philly hated him then. It was so funny to see radio staions offering to move him back to Atlanta. When I was heading back to Nashville, he was escorted by Philly police to the gate. The men were like, "oh my God! It's T.O.!" while he walked passed us. I looked at them and said, yeah it's Owens, Oh my God, he's an asshole! They looked at me as if why would you think that??!! My understanding of football is this, you are on a team and it takes the whole team to play offense and defense not one person. So here I am reinforcing his behavior!
