Scoring Machine

Hey guys...

...the Preds just scored 6 goals in the second period of tonight's game.

Down 1-0 after the first...they now lead 6-2 at the start of the third period. Tootoo got the scoring started with what I'm told was a 100-foot shot (local radio is playing a Vanderbilt basketball game...I tapped into the Columbus audio feed online). Sullivan, Perrault, Beech (recent call-up), Smithson (rookie), and Zidlicky all have goals. Six goals in one period. I need to do some fact-checking, but that has to be a franchise record...might be close to an NHL record. A 6-goal period is just unheard of.

Oh, and Vokoun started the game tonight. Vokoun in goal is about the most soothing, comforting phrase I've ever heard. He really recovered from that knee injury fast. Glad he's back. Poor Finley was sent down this morning, while Rinne was kept on as the backup until Mason heals.

Just thought you'd like to know.

UPDATE: Darcy Hordichuk, a man brought in to fight and hurt people (the enforcer) just tallied the Preds' seventh goal of the night. 7-2 Preds. Man, do I wish I'd gone to the game tonight!

Just so you know, if the game isn't on 104.5, it's likely on AM 560. It was tonight, anyway.

Anyhow...yes, quite a flurry of scoring. I saw the 1st period, and it looked like everyone was taking shots and getting good chances. Perhaps this will be a trend.
