Ingur-lund!
I've been enjoying the columns of Simon Barnes this World Cup. England disappointed again today, drawing Sweden and losing Michael Owen to injury. You don't have to know football to understand the bite in this statement:
England, it seems, have four strikers. One is injured, one is three-quarters fit at best, one is 17 and one is Peter Crouch. England got away with it, just about, on a night when a draw suited both teams. But this is the point at which the tournament ceases to be forgiving.
I hate to say it, but I don't like their chances. I do love watching Wayne Rooney play, though. Keep an eye on him if you watch.
(also, if you're confused about soccer, imagine having to explain baseball to a Brit)
