I headlined my initial picks with "Fortune Favors the Bold", and this weekend proved the converse to be true - Fortune Despises the Timid. Hey Green Bay, when it's fourth and less than one, and if you get the first down you win the game, AND you have Ahmad Green, at least try to get the first down! If you can't gain a single yard, you don't deserve to win a playoff game. The football gods made sure they lost.
And hey, Mike Martz, you're not a good coach! Go back to being an offensive co-ordinator. Why didn't he try for the win at the end of regulation? When the football gods see such timidity, and see a rising star as coach on the other bench, they award victory accordingly.
McNair just wasn't himself in either post-season game. On Saturday, there were at least two false starts that he caused with a bad snap count, at least two delays of the game, and a couple of other cover your eyes type of bad plays. If he was on his game, and if they actually had a real field goal kicker, they win by ten points. Too bad.
I loved watching the Colts on offense, but that D needs help, and I think NE will pick it apart. I'm certainly going to choose them, but I'm not sure about the other game. Carolina has a Marlins feel to them now - no one knows about them, no one likes them, no ones talking about them, no ones sure how they're winning. But they keep it up, and suddenly I wouldn't be surprised if they won it all. Can this team that no one knows anything about still sneak up on people? We'll see.
