More Notes...

Just some random things I've been reading today.

From Marginal Revolution: Aspirin, Tylenol, and Penicillin would never survive the FDA process today, and might not have even been submitted. Read here.

Via 2blowhards.com: 55% of all married Pakistani's in Britain are married to a first cousin. Goodness.

Australia plans to build a very high Solar Tower to create energy. Very high as in 1,000 meters. Wow!

The World Cup field is set, and can be seen here. There are a number of interesting teams on that list, including several first timers, such as Angola, Togo, Ghana, and the Ukraine. Some of the best news is that the US qualified very early, and tiny Trinidad & Tobago last week became the fourth member of the region to make it. This bodes well for qualifying in the future. Since we're ranked seventh in the world (through a dubious ranking system that over-values good teams from weak regions), can we get a top seed and avoid some tougher competition next year? Only if FIFA believes their computers over their eyes.

I've become fond of this page, linking to English-language newspapers the world over. Especially interesting before and after important World Cup qualifiers.
