And anger gives way to sorrow

I just heard Leopold on the radio talking lockout.

Did you know we managed to sign every single player from last year to be back in a Preds uniform again? At least that's what Craig says. I'm really just saddened by that. That team would've been good. Not just because of the playoffs last year, but imagine the benefit of experience, team-building, and unity that we'd have had on that squad playing in a second full season together.

Hockey has been my sanctuary. Step into the GEC and everything makes sense again, you know? Cycle, work hard, work together, and win.

Leopold sure sounds optimistic about some sort of deal getting done soon, and I sure hope that's sincere. Imagine this thing lasting a year, but we still get to keep the team. How many casual, non-die-hard fans are going to come out for a game?

It's all just really very saddening.

We signed everybody?
Including Hall and Erat? I haven't seen that anywhere, but I hope its true. If for nothing else so that they won't potentially stay in Europe all season.

Well that's what I thought too, because I thought those two were headed overseas. But Craig said this evening "we were able to sign every one of our players from last year's team." So, I don't know.

Even with those two out...it's still a pretty big accomplishment to get everyone else signed up.

I do hope we have signed Erat. He's an amazing skater & player. I'll try not to pick fave's (ahem, Walker) haha.
I ran into Leopold at the GEC in the stairwell. He was with the Mrs. & I wanted to say: PLEASE LET THEM PLAY next season.

I wrote a whole post about this a while back, but you're right: Erat is maybe the fastest skater on the team. I know Legwand is fast. But I paid specific attention to this last year during the 20+ games I attended and truly believe Erat is the fastest guy we have....and he has great hands. His weakest attribute is just his inexperience and "hockey sense." He needs to mentally get to where his brain is as quick as his skates and his stick-handling...and he may just end up being our best player for years to come. Love me some Erat.
