My Colts

Okay, huge Colts fan here...I won't deny it. I love my Titans (believing that if you're going to care about sports...you should support your local team) until they play the Colts. Indy is my heart team. I lived there when the Baltimore Colts moved in and promtly sucked for 12 straight years...and I loved them anyway. Now that they're good...I love them even more.

Scattered thoughts on last night's game:

-Edge did, indeed, look oustanding, jerking through the holes and gaining solid yards. Vintage looking Edge, and me likey.

- Peyton and company looked good too, spreading it around. I liked how Edge, Dominic Rhodes, Marvin, Wayne, Stokely, and my boy Dallas Clark all got touches and did something great. The offense will be as good as ever this year, if not better.

-Mike Doss is one of the only good guys Indy has on D and when he went down, the Pats starting exploiting his absence....to great success. Ugh. The D will continue to give up 30 points a game and the offense just has to put up more.

-The Colts only lost this game because of a fumble. A fumble by a not-fumble-prone running back...named Edgerrin James. But you're going to read and hear all about Peyton's curse against Bellichek...which is hogwash. Peyton threw one interception at the goal line (that he only threw because of miserable pass protection) in the first minutes of the game. But that didn't cost the game. The Colts were up at the half and looking strong. Peyton played great. Those two freaking fumbles lost the game, especially the last one. So all the Peyton can't beat Bellichek crap is just writers trying to find a story. Fumble = loss. Plain and simple.

-You're also going to hear a lot about the Pats being superheros. Pats are still on a roll. Pats still got it. Pats can beat anyone if they can beat the Colts. Again, pure crap. I'm serious. Not to knock the Pats offense, which looked really good (even Cory Dillon)...but let's also remember the D they were picking apart--not exactly Baltimore. But here's what I saw: Washinton being gone created a glaring hole in the Pats D, which is running up the middle. They couldn't stop either of the Colts backs running up the middle. And look at their schedule...every team they play in the next several weeks has two or three great running backs. Mark my words: the Patriots will not repeat, will not go to the Super Bowl, and may not even make the playoffs. I'd love to see Baltimore play them, with the D clamping down and Jamal Lewis charging up the gut. If you watched that game you know what I'm saying.

-How happy can Dillon (notoriously grumpy and diva-like) be that he didn't even take the field the first drive, and only got a handful of touches? I mean, sure, he looked great....but he's all about "give me the ball" and "I want to play" and he's a whiner, right? I bet he was upset.

-Does any team out there that was good last year have a tougher opening few games than the Colts? Any team with a tougher schedule overall? I don't think so. Open away at New England and then away at Tennessee?! Give me a break.

-All in all it was a great game. I really enjoyed it. I just wish my guys had pulled it out. Stupid fumble-pants. That crap kills!
