Where did these guys come from?!

The Preds just beat Chicago 6-1.

Can somebody tell me where all this scoring is coming from? I mean...is this even the same team?

Sure, we've been good this year (we are 28-7-3)...but we've been far from a scoring team. In fact, we've been outshot in most of our games...even the ones we've won.

But suddenly...over the last few games...our boys have started putting the puck in the net. Last three games: 16 goals...averaging 5.3 goals a game. That's what I'm talking about.

Now, part of the team has always been scoring. Sullivan (above...in a sweet action photo from tonight's game) and Kariya (below...standing and celebrating with Sully, also from tonight's game) have been racking up points all season. But they've been doing it largely by themselves.

Now they're getting help from an interesting place: the rest of the team. Guys like Stevenson. Guys like Ryan Suter (who tonight got his first NHL goal ever). Guys like Zids and Perrault and Vern Fiddler (2 goals tonight).

We're thirty games into the season and our team has 10 guys in double-digits in points. That's what they call "spreading it around."

Tonight also marked the return of Captain Greg Johnson...a guy who has been sorely missed. He is one of the best all-around players on our team...and he is our leader. Good to have him back.

Now picture Walker and Leggy back out there...and our prospects of continued scoring are outstanding.

Truthfully? Mostly I just wanted to post the awesome picture below. Any guesses as to which Preds player that is kicking up all that ice and sliding headlong into the opposing goaltender's face? Yeah...it's Tootoo.

Another great game! I love all this scoring. I think it's mental; when Vokoun was stopping everything, they could hold back a bit, knowing that they only needed three goals to win the game. When Tomas went down, they suddenly realized they needed to score as well, which they've shown they can do now. When your injury to your All-Star goalie only helps the team, things are going your way. I love it.

Now that's something I can get on board with. The Vokoun injury might have been what the offense needed, although it's probably bound to come back down to Earth sooner or later.
