Box Office

The box office has a 4-week winning streak, and it looks like even Box Office Mojo is impressed. A 51% clubbing of 2004.

I will say this, though: going to be difficult to make it 5 weeks in a row, as cult-TV-show-to-movie Serenity, Disney feel-good golf drama The Greatest Game Ever Played, and the long-delayed Into the Blue open September 30 to compete with last year's October 1 releases Ladder 49 and Shark Tale, both which had super openings--especially Shark Tale with $47 million. But I think these upcoming releases will make a decent showing--we have no idea the appeal of Serenity to a mass audience, but the typical sci-fi audience comes out in droves on opening weekend. And it looks like potential hit The Greatest Game is getting somewhat of a limited release this weekend, if the screen numbers are to be believed.

This will be the weekend, likely, that the box office naysayers will revert back to their usual comments.
